Empowering Disabled Children
Apang Vidyalaya provides comprehensive care, education, and rehabilitation for physically disabled children from rural Maharashtra, fostering independence and dignity in a supportive home-like environment.

Our Story
Apang Vidyalaya was established on 16th June 1989 under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Apang Mitra Mandal with a clear and compassionate mission — to provide dignity, rehabilitation, education, and opportunity to physically challenged children, especially those coming from rural and economically weaker backgrounds across Maharashtra.
The foundation of this institution is rooted in empathy and lived experience. The vision was inspired by individuals who deeply understood the struggles of disability — not from a distance, but from personal reality. The belief was simple yet powerful: physical disability should never become a barrier to education, independence, or self-respect.
At a time when accessibility, rehabilitation, and inclusive education were not widely available, Apang Vidyalaya was created to serve as a complete support system. It was not meant to be just a school — it was envisioned as a home, a healing space, and a platform for empowerment.
From the very beginning, the focus has been on holistic development. Every newly admitted child is medically evaluated, and where required, orthopedic surgeries are arranged so they can stand on their own legs and move toward independence. Post-surgery rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and assistive devices such as callipers and crutches are provided to ensure full recovery and mobility.
But healing the body is only one part of the journey.
Education forms the heart of our mission. The institution provides residential schooling along with academic guidance, qualified staff, and structured learning. Children are nurtured in an environment where they are not seen through the lens of limitation, but through the lens of potential.
Beyond academics, Apang Vidyalaya strongly believes in confidence building and skill development. Vocational training such as tailoring, computer education, book binding, and file making prepares children for future independence. Music, cultural activities, sports, yoga, and competitions help them discover hidden talents and express themselves freely.
The infrastructure itself reflects our commitment to accessibility. Ramps are built throughout the campus so that every child can move independently and safely. Separate residential sections for boys and girls, proper bedding, nutritious meals, playground facilities, a cultural hall, and a peaceful garden environment together create a nurturing space where children feel secure and valued.
Over the years, Apang Vidyalaya has also demonstrated responsibility toward society and nature. Our tree plantation initiatives have been recognized and awarded by PCMC in 2006, 2008, and 2010 — reinforcing our belief that growth and care extend beyond individuals to the environment around us.
For more than three decades, Apang Vidyalaya has stood as a symbol of resilience, dignity, and transformation. Children who once struggled to stand now walk confidently. Those who once lacked access to education now learn, perform, create, and dream.
Our philosophy is reflected in our slogan:
“Disabled – No. We the Challengers.”
We do not see disability as inability.
We see courage.
We see strength.
We see potential waiting to be empowered.
And our story continues — with every child who walks through our doors and discovers that they are capable of far more than the world once told them.
